Every other month or so, as time permits we meet to have brunch with the family, not a big deal anyone that is available picks a dish and is present at the appointed home. This month’s brunch was at my baby sister’s new apartment. As luck would have it I would start my day late and the mad dash was on to get my dishes completed and across town in less than an hour. Well not a realistic goal so I arrived at my destination thirty minutes late, rang the door bell and ushered in my dishes with greetings from the rest of the family.
My parents had not arrived so it was a good time to visit and simply check out the new pad. Another thirty minutes passes and the door bell rings again, my Pops comes in followed by my dear sweet Moms. Instead of good morning were greeted with it would be nice if someone called and gave us a ride, followed by girls you really need to give better directions.
Here’s the thing, the time together is for fellowship and the opportunity to catch-up on familystyle. The time is not set up for bickering or grumpy parents. I guess somebody forgot to email the parents about attitude before they arrived fashionably late.
Once everyone calmed down it was time to enjoy breakfast and discuss how the past week treated each one of us. I think what often happens is that we take for granted that life is short and sometimes it’s necessary to check the attitude at the door in order to enjoy each other’s company when we finally get to stop for familystyle.
