I walked in yesterday greeted by one of my managers that insisted she needed to leave for a few hours. So I had to ask what the mad dash was about? She explained that her grandson that she helps care for could not breathe and the school could not reach his Mother. Hours later they found the young man’s mother, only after his Grandmother had rushed him to emergency room for care. Later that day when my employee returned I asked only a few questions because it was a long day for all us. Thinking about the day it made me wonder how Grandparents that act as immediate parents to the grandchildren function? As a young parent I find that although it’s rewarding it’s certainly has it share of challenges. As the light bulb was slowly coming on I realized at times it’s not a choice, instead it’s the right thing to do. That being said, I commend my employee and anyone else out there that serves their grandchildren by being their care provider.
