The evenings were more interesting, every now and then my dear Pops would pile us into his Pontiac Bonneville armed with boxed drinks off we went to an outdoor movie. Now it was never ever comfortable with all seven of us including my parents piled in the car but the fun part was when the blanket was rolled out and the picnic basket taken out when we reached our destination. Each child scrambled for a spot before the movie started jhoping to have the best seat in the house.
That was simply heaven on earth, after the movie we all sandwiched into the car. Hours later irritated because we were tired but glad to make it back home safely after a day of fun with the parents.
There was the time when we were very late to a summer wedding all five of us in the back seat, the girls had to wear a hair piece in their hair for fullness. I was reluctant to wear a hair piece, but our Mother insisted so to keep the peace let’s stick pins in my head. As we were heading down the highway, my Dad rolled down the back window by accident and yes the wig went flying out the window. The rest of the family I think were in shock and then of course the laughter started.
Those were the good old days, each day was filled with a new adventure, now your turn, what memories are you creating for your families as time flies by like there is no tomorrow.
