As I was reading an article this morning about a young girl on Huff Parents that makes dresses of out paper it brought back such happy memories. The pictures are sweet and perfect of a 4 year old that has some idea what she wants in her life. As early as eleven years old I was building or creating something out of old JCPenney catalogs and then I would create some type of collage. It was time consuming but before I started out I knew exactly what kind of project I was creating.
My favorite thing to create was a model of homes and design each room, every item in every room was hand selected to perfection. Years later after I tucked the book away into some box because life simply happened my dream went on hold. What I found interesting is that some 20 years after I deferred my dream of creating something magical on paper, I decided to build my first home; the process of picking out knobs, colors, cabinets was easy and exciting to me. The process of creating the collage of what each room would look like on paper became a daily habit in 2006 and the reality of seeing what I had created on paper come true in 9 months was unbelievable and exhilarating.
A dream that was forgotten and deferred because life happens became a reality again for me. From that moment I evolved and realized what truly makes me happy each day. It becomes an awakening as I share the idea to other Mom’s that the dream does not have to remain deferred; it’s time to realize your dream, what is holding you back?
